Bora Bora's irresistible chiaroscuro is due to the massive and dark outline of Mount Otemanu (2,385 ft), which sits imposingly in the centre of the island, magnifying the lagoon's luminosity. Go on a mini-cruise early in the morning or in the evening, in order to appreciate the changing tones.
