Flora Tahiti's volcanic soil is particularly fertile, meaning that the archipelago is home to a significant number of plant species. Carlos Rodrigues
In the altitude, the volcanic humus, very fertile, combined with the natural greenhouse effect due to the hot and humid climate, spectacularly accelerate the proliferation of all types of plants. First, there are the tall trees such as coconut, breadfruit (uru), which was the reason for the expedition of the Bounty, beef wood, banana, kapok, banyan, ylang-ylang, Pacific chestnut (mape), flame of the forest and Caribbean pine. Then, there are the resplendent flower bushes including tiare, the emblem of Tahiti, hibiscus, frangipani (or tipani), bougainvillea, gardenia and yellow bell, without forgetting jasmine and oleander.
