Tahiti - The volcanic landscape Tahiti is a volcanic island with a hilly landscape. The fertile land produces an abundance of vegetation. Carlos Rodrigues
Tahiti consists of two volcanoes, (brought together by the isthmus of Taravao), that make up the main island of Tahiti Nui to the west and Tahiti Iti to the east (or the Taiarapu peninsula). The majestic outline of Mount Orohena (7,352 ft) and Aorai (6,778 ft) and the Diadème (4,334 ft) overlook lush greenery cut across by deep river valleys. A 70 mile road allows you to travel all around Tahiti, from Papeete; allow at least a whole day and start on the west coast.
