Atlantic Coast Resorts groups four tourist complexes together: Bakau, Fajara, Kotu and Kololi, located a couple of miles northwest of Serrakunda. About twenty hotels, all on the seafront, offer watersports, golf courses and beautiful beaches for leisure activities. Bakau resort has a botanical garden and although it is falling into decay, you can observe many bird species. Another particularity of Bakau: Kachikaly crocodile pond, which represents a sacred place for the local people. In fact, in certain Gambian tribes, crocodiles symbolise the power of fertility. This is certainly the place where you will be able to get very close to the crocodiles, with no risk of losing a leg!
