Several German artists influenced most of the arts of the old continent. Each year, Germany celebrates one of these artists by organising exhibitions, shows, conferences and tours in the cities where they distinguished themselves. Hence, the year 2000 marked 250 years since the passing of Bach, and several events were organised at Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
