The federal city of Bonn has become a large modern city that is lively and full of students all while preserving the charm of a friendly-sized capital. The university's main building is the former residential palace of the prince-elector of Cologne and is the emblem of the city. With more than 2,000 years of history, the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the oldest cities in Germany. You will be able to revisit post-war Germany at the 'Haus der Geschichte' (House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany), delight in the exhibitions at the Bundeskunsthalle, or stroll along the Rhine up to the old Bundestag and stop in at one of the 'Biergarten'.
