The Neue Pinakothek Like its collection of pieces, the façade of the Neue Pinakothek is modern. Petrol / age fotostock
Following the destruction of the building, which had been erected under Louis I, during the Second World War, the New Paintings Gallery displays a post-modern style. Built in 1981, its brightly coloured, sandstone buildings allow a good penetration of light. This museum hosts paintings dating back to the start of the 18th century, dedicated to both international art (including Turner and Goya) and German painters of the first half of the 18th Century, French romantics (Delacroix), realists, impressionists (with a tableau of the famous Tournesol series of Vincent Van Gogh).
