Mediterranean climate with long, hot and dry summers, and very mild winters. Inland, summer is usually blistering with temperatures that can go up to 45 °C. Avoid Athens in July and August; 'the nefos', a thick pollution cloud that covers the city is even more oppressive then. It rains the most between November and January. The months of May and September/October represent the ideal time to enjoy Ancient Greece.
