Climate Greek Islands

Summers on the islands are long and dry, and are followed by mild but rainy winters (20°C in the coldest months). In The Dodecanese and The Cyclades, the 'meltemi', dry winds coming from the north, can catch you off-guard from June to September, lowering the high temperatures (from 33°C in The Cyclades to 40°C in The Dodecanese). The most pleasant season is spring, due to the mild temperatures and moderate winds. The peak season, usually July and August, is to be avoided: tourists flock to the islands and prices are sky-high. Furthermore, the somewhat submerged islanders are less friendly and tolerant during the high season.
