On the very famous island of Santorini, the Ancient city of Thira (which is in Doric style) with vestiges dating back to the time of Ptolemies, is worth a stopover, as is the Mionoan site of Akrotiri, where excavations have revealed homes which date back to the end of the 16th century B.C. There are also some fascinating frescoes, exhibited at the Athens Archaeological Museum, which shouldn't be missed.
