Midnight sun Alamer / age fotostock;
The midnight sun is a surprising phenomena, found north of the polar circle. During the Arctic summer, time stops: The daylight lasts 24hrs. In Ilulissat for example, the sun is constantly visible from May 25 to June 25. In winter, a total polar night only affects the island's northern parts. Elsewhere, a non stop dawn illuminates the days. In January or February, Greenland celebrates the sun's return with important festivities.
