It is recommended to take some precautions to avoid thefts. Avoid walking in isolated areas as soon as night falls, and do not expose valuable items such as cameras or jewellery. Grand Anse (especially the beach) and Lagoon areas, south of Saint George's, are unfortunately reputed for tourist assaults at night. Sailors must also be watchful and should avoid leaving the boats without any supervision, especially in Saint George's.

transports

Local transportation

Minibuses, present on the entire island, represent the cheapest way to get around and at the same time you can discover the culture and lifestyle of its inhabitants. But you don't have to be in a hurry because most of them only leave once the bus is full! Taxis also drive all around the island, but it will be a lot more costly. Rates are fixed: allow about 2 euros per mile for 10 miles, and 1,5 euros beyond that. Renting a car gives you more freedom but remember that people drive on the left and roads are fairly dangerous (buses go fast and there are many bends). There is no age limit to rent a car but it is required to buy a local license at the car rental agency (about 12 euros). Boats offer a crossing from one island to another or rides around Grenada. Among the many companies, you should compare the rates and services. You can also rent sailing boats and motorboats.
Accommodation options:
Other than hotels, you will find appartment rentals and rooms for rent in local homes. There are no campsites to go camping, but camping is authorised in the Grand Etang National Park. You must ask the permission at the park entrance.
