Travel is my driving force in life, and although I have had the privilege of visiting 30 countries so far, my heart will always remain in India...
Cockfighting Cockfights are a tradition that is firmly rooted in West Indian culture. In Guadeloupe they take place between January and July. © Wilfried Louvet
From November to July, cockfights occur every weekend. Each village has its own "pitt" or cockfighting arena, where gallinaceans fight to the death. Trained, massaged and fed with a food rich in proteins, cocks follow a diet worthy of a high-level athlete. A lot of bets are made on these cockfights. One of the cocks will have a fatal ending, in which case he will end up on a plate.
