Small fishing village on the west coast of Basse-Terre, Deshaies seems timeless, as if it were protected by the cliffs that overhang it. Modest Creole huts, a couple of "lolos" and souvenir shops border the streets of this small village. A little up north, Grande Anse beach is perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches in Guadeloupe. With its golden sand and its coconuts stretching out to the sea, it is one of the places preferred by tourists. However, its strong waves can be dangerous.
