The fishermen village of Vieux-Fort is known for its inhabitants, great charcoal manufacturing specialists. There are no beaches northeast of Vieux-Fort, only cliffs sculpted by ferocious sea storms. At the end of a stony path is Gueule-Grand-Gouffre, a huge water-shaped chalky arch. Further is Caye-Plate, another area where the sea is relatively violent, which is worth visiting for its giant lobsters.
