French metropolitans, Creoles, Brazilians, Haitians, Surinamese, Hmongs, Chinese, Maroons and American Indians either pass through, stay or live in Cayenne, the ?no stress' county town of French Guiana. The century old Catholic town with Creole houses decorated with ironworks had a church built that became the Cathedral of St. Sauveur in 1933 and it is worth a visit, together with Cépérou Fort, from where you can admire the view of the bay of Cayenne and Palmist Square, in the town centre, which, as its name suggests, is planted with huge palm trees. Also, do not miss the fish market, which is every morning from 6:00 am, and the vegetable market (where you can find yams, bananas, maripas and parepous), which is on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
