The distinction between art and crafts is often hard to see here. In Guiana, the presence of art mostly exists on the streets and the artistic work of ethnic groups is often found in everyday objects. American Indians get their inspiration from nature, and animal designs are often created for basketry, necklaces, hut canopies and body paintings. As for Maroon art, it is symbolic; you can observe a lot of geometrical wooden figures.
