The black cayman lives in the Kaw swamp, which has turned into a real marshy forest in some places. You can go in a pirogue boat to catch a glimpse of this endangered reptile, but you should preferably go at night. Herons, egrets, jacanas and moorhens also populate this 247,104 acre nature reserve which is 18 miles from Cayenne.
