East of Guiana flows the Approuague River, the fourth longest river in the region (167 miles long), and far upstream you will find the huge jump of Grand Kanori, which drops 62 ft. Before you get to the waterfalls though, you must stop off in one of the most beautiful sites of Guiana: Saut-Athanase, which is known for its swimming, fishing, canoeing, and gold washing. The initiation to the techniques of working with precious metals takes place upstream of the Maroni and Oyapock Rivers.
