The Creole village of Saül, which still has remnants of the gold rush, is home to more than 60 inhabitants, right in the centre of Guiana. The rich primary forest (precious woods and orchids) that surrounds the village attracts botanists and hikers and 37 miles of trails (for hikes of 1 to 2 days) have been established by the National Office of Forests. Saül is 35 minutes from Cayenne by plane or 8 days on a pirogue via the Mana River.
