The Amazonian forest, a kingdom of huge trees which are several centuries old (ebonies, silk-cotton trees...) also hosts 5,000 plant species, precious wood and epiphyte flowery plants, including orchids and araceaes.
Below, there are a host of many other species, both small and big, including palm trees, cannon wood trees, creepers, epiphytes (plants living on trees) and ferns. When a huge tree is cut, it makes others fall and causes a chablis: a clearing where light enters, and it is this which accelerates the growth of new vegetation. The equatorial forest covers 94% of the territory in total.
