Bissau, the country's capital, located near the mouth of the Gêba River, is also the country's major port. It is a very pleasant town, with a relaxed atmosphere. The African Art Museum is full of traditional artwork: sculptures, basketries, ceramics and woven items. The central market is a lively show, with its colourful stands and its vibrant atmosphere.
