Hotel Lookéa Albena

The hotel is at the heart of the seaside resort of Albena, on the Black Sea coast some 20 mi north of Varna.

You can sign up for a number of outings starting heading out from the hotel to explore the surrounding area. The company that organises them has a representative on site at all times. She is happy to provide information, and also helps guests with other aspects of their stay (car hire, return times, etc.).
All year round, a mini-club is available for children aged 4 to 8. They are looked after by a team of specialist supervisors. 8-12 year olds and 12-16 year olds are also welcomed during the school holidays.
The staff at reception and the bars in the hotel can speak French, as a lot of the guests are French speakers.
There is a thalassotherapy centre close to the hotel.

The Lookéa Albena was built in 1973 and opens from May to September. It is a vast complex boasting a seafront location at the heart of the seaside resort of Albena. Holidaying here allows you take part in sports activities, enjoy being lazy, and explore the surrounding region. The many facilities provided for guests are focused around the 2 outdoor swimming pools and consist of 3 bars (including one by the pool and one on the beach), a main restaurant with a wooden terrace, an à la carte restaurant, two tennis courts, a mini-golf course, and 2 amphitheatres (one indoor and one outdoor, depending on the season) where shows are staged early in the evening. The guest rooms are spread throughout 2 main buildings that are 3 storeys high and served by 4 lifts. The ground floor lobby is a welcoming space (even though not all the amenities appear to be very new) equipped with a television lounge, an Internet corner with 3 computers (charged), and a 24 hour bar where the all-inclusive formula applies until 11:00pm. The entertainment team organises a number of both fun and sports activities over the course of the day.

The hotel consists of 158 guest rooms with balconies. All of the rooms are equipped with a double bed and a single bed, and decorated in a simple fashion with some bright colours. The furniture is made of light-coloured wood, the walls are aqua green, and the sofa and bedspreads are yellow. The accommodation is comfortable, but space is a bit tight because the double and single beds take up most of it. The same goes for the bathrooms. Small, they are tiled and clean. The only drawback is the little window high up the bathroom wall, because it looks straight into the corridor, so beware of Peeping Toms! The rooms facing the sea and swimming pool offer nicer views than those overlooking the garden. The amenities include satellite television, a direct international phone line, a minibar, and air-conditioning. There is a safe at reception (charged). Two spare bedsheets and an extra pillow are provided in the wardrobe, just in case.

The formula here is an all-inclusive and all of the meals are served as a buffet in the main restaurant, the Malibu. The choice of dishes is limited but the quality of the local and international cuisine is decent. Breakfast is served from 7:30am to 10:00am, lunch from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, and dinner from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. A snack deal is also on offer from 4:00pm until 5:30pm, serving pancakes, etc. In the evening, you can book a table for dinner in the nearby à la carte restaurant. The are also 3 bars in the hotel: at reception, at the swimming pool, and on the beach.

The hotel is close to a beautiful beach covered in fine sand. Windsurfing boards and canoes are available to guests staying at the hotel, and there is an independent water sports centre nearby offering other activities like diving, jetskiing, and water-skiing. Horse-riding and parasailing are also on offer (for an additional charge).
