AnimationAs you might have guessed from its name, the Titanic is an upmarket theme hotel entirely devoted to the famous shipwreck. You'll find nautical references all over the place, right down to the very last detail, such as the sailor suits worn by the staff and even the porthole-style windows. The site covers some 23.5 acres, so this isn't the place to come if you're not a fan of walking! It is a great place for families though, as there are lots of facilities for children, whilst those who like to party will be pleased to know there is plenty of nightlife to be enjoyed. In fact, the only ones who might be disappointed with this place are those looking to experience the charm and authenticity of the real Turkey. Having popped up just a few years ago, the tourist zone of Lara in effectively made up of huge hotel complexes all lined up one after the other.
The Titanic stands amid the huge hotel complex of Lara, some 7 mi east of Antalya and about 9 mi from the airport, with a transfer time of 20 minutes.
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool that is heated in winter as well as an impressive 160m² games room with several pool tables (for which there is a charge).
The Titanic was built in 2003 and is designed in the style of a huge liner set entirely amid a one acre swimming pool intended to represent the sea. The nautical theme features heavily in the decor, from the lifebelts hung from the balustrades to the reproduction copper helms. Those who like to keep active will be pleased to know that in addition to the 1,250m² Olympic swimming pool, the hotel boasts a comprehensive range of sports facilities, including tennis, football, horse-riding, beach volleyball, basketball, archery, and water sports, to name but a few!. You'll find comfortable pouffes and bench seats dotted all around the grounds so you can sit and relax in peace for a while without necessarily having to go to the luxurious spa. There is a mini-club for 4-12 year olds that is housed in a large red pirate ship, much to the children's delight. An entertainment team of over 20 people work full-time on the hotel's evening show, put on every night of the week in a huge amphitheatre and inspired by scenes from the film 'Titanic'.
Over 90% of the Titanic's 589 guest rooms have a view of the sea. As you might guess, they feature a blue colour scheme, from the bedspreads through to the sea-themed paintings adorning the walls. Very comfortable and fitted with carpeting, they are tastefully decorated and come equipped with a balcony, central air conditioning, a large screen satellite television, a well stocked minibar, and a free safe, whilst the bathrooms come with a bathtub, a hair dryer and a selection of hospitality products. There are also 10 or so villas that can accommodate up to 6 guests each built right by the side of the main pool.
The Titanic has one main 800-seater buffet restaurant that opens out onto a large terrace overlooking the pool, as well as 4 à la carte restaurants (Turkish, Mediterranean, Italian, and barbecue) that incur an additional charge of about £9 per person. You'll find a wide variety of tasty local and international cuisine on offer in the buffet restaurant, as well as a special buffet area for children. Guests can dine here at any time of the day or night, particularly as there is a late buffet open until midnight. Ice cream and Turkish specialties are available at the poolside throughout the day. One of the hotel's 5 bars is located on the rooftop, affording superb panoramic views of the sea.
You can access the beach in a few minutes' walk via a pretty walkway lined with palm trees, and unlike most of the hotel beaches in the area, this one consists exclusively of sand. You'll find cushioned deckchairs sheltered by straw huts, showers, and even a water sports club on the beach, though this is open during high season only. If it's rest and relaxation you're after, do bear in mind that the beach here is a very busy one; the wooden landing stage that juts out into the sea is a lot more peaceful.
