Hotel Suizo

In the Gothic neighbourhood, on the Plaza Angel, not far from the Cathedral and the Ramblas at the heart of Barcelona just in front of the Jaume I subway station. The Barcelona airport lies 9 miles away, barely a 25 minute drive.

Lying close to the famous Ramblas avenue and the Cathedral in the heart of the Gothic neighbourhood, the Suizo hotel has a sumptuous and well decorated lounge upstairs where one can relax and watch TV or play cards. A Flamenco concert is provided to the clients in the evenings. Breakfast is offered at the neighbouring Gotico hotel owned by the Spanish Gargallo chain of hotels. Animals are accepted with no additional payments.

A member of the Spanish Gargallo hotel group, the Suizo offers 61 rooms spread out in a 4-storey historic building with a lovely façade and served by an elevator. Open throughout the year, it has a full accommodation capacity of 116 clients. Built in 1858 and renovated in 2004, the Gotico offers a limited number of facilities and has no restaurant. It nevertheless houses a beautiful leisure salon, while watching TV or playing cards. Paintings, vases, black horserider statues, wooden ceiling beams, wooden floor covering, plants and the decoration display an atmosphere of serenity ideal for relaxation.

Fitted out with a tiled floor, the Gotico hotel rooms are pleasantly decorated and properly equipped. They contain television sets (9 channels), two separate beds, an office desk, green papered walls adorned with a image, a keyed safe (for 1.5 pounds per day), individual airconditioning, direct international phone line, a mini-bar fridge and a small balcony (in some rooms). The small bathroom is fitted with a bathtub equipped with a flexible shower, non-separate toilets, a bidet, a magnifying mirror, hair dryer, comb and hospitality products.

There is no catering service at the Suizo hotel as in most Barcelona hotels, for there are many restaurants throughout the city. Breakfast is served at the neighbouring Gotico hotel, another member of the Gargallo group, from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM in a magnificient vaulted hall with original medieval walls covered with lovely decorations and paintings, statues of Egyptian divinities and immense framed papyruses. The lobby bar offers a variety of cocktails and other liquor and even contains a slot machine!
