NatureA three-star address in the lakeside town of Bled, the Hotel Savica is yet another property belonging to the Sava Hotels & Resorts brand. This hotel however, is specifically targeted at families with young children with its good range of kid-friendly facilities. Therefore the Savica might not be the most romantic choice for holidaying couples...
Hotel Savica is located back from the shores of Lake Bled, more or less in the town centre. The drive to Ljubljana Airport takes about half an hour.
The Savica is the first hotel in the Sava group to have a 100% family focus: kids are a priority all year round.
Due to the absence of a restaurant, there is no 'Food and Drink' score.
Built in 1984 and last renovated in 2008, Hotel Savica is solitary seven-storey building with an apex roof. The 104 rooms include 12 apartments each with a kitchenette. Very popular with families, the Savica is a child-friendly place; the small lobby showcases children's artwork, as well as cutouts of cheery cartoon characters, making it clear where the hotel's priorities lie. There is a kids' playroom which is open at various set times, and although it is supervised, parents are encouraged to stay and play too. The large room is brightly decorated in murals and is full of various games. There are also (unsupervised) playing areas on each floor (in the corridors near the elevators); toys and games can be borrowed from reception. The hotel also organises a range of excursions and activities that are mostly free of charge (parents must provide transport). An indoor pool can be used free of charge at Savica's sister hotel the Golf, just across the road. Other incentives at the hotel include: baby changing tables, children's toilet seats, free bottle warmers, and free gifts for the kids upon check-in.
Rooms at the Savica are simple, clean and bright. The beds are large and draped in fresh white linen, while (unlike many other hotels in the area), each room has a brand new flat screen television on the wall. The bathroom meanwhile is quite small, but overall the rooms' features have a quite modern feel. The family room is actually two interconnecting rooms, each with their own bathroom. Only the top floor rooms (there are four) boast lake views. The apartments are furnished in much the same style but consist of a master bedroom and separate living area with sofa bed (maximum four guests), as well as a modern, equipped kitchenette. Some apartments feature the dining setting in the living area, while in others it is in the kitchen. As there is no on-site restaurant the hotel does not offer room service.
There is no restaurant at the Hotel Savica; those guests on half-board meal plans dine across the road at sister property the Golf Hotel. However there is a pleasant breakfast room on the ground floor, just off the lobby, where the first meal of the day is served each morning. Breakfast consists of a continental buffet selection.
