A lodging tip
If you are a lover of nature, ask to be housed in the wing oriented to the South Beach or called "wild" beach. There is no lagoon here, but the coastline is reminiscent of that of South Africa. Gorgeous.

The most recent changes in the Shandrani dates back to 2007 with the construction of the second spa. The structure of the hotel is made up of several pavilions with thatched roofs and two-storey buildings housing the rooms. All are scattered in a park of 50 hectares planted with exotic species. The Shandrani ( whose name means "the Goddess of the Moon" in Hindi ) has two pools of 400 m² and 200 m² respectively. These are bordered by many deckchairs. The architecture of the lobby is widely open to the relaxation areas and its natural materials ( wood, stone, rattan ) invite to relaxation and change of scenery. As for the sports and activities, holidaymakers are particularly spoilt. Fitness, tennis, mountain bike on rental, sailing school, diving ... the Shandrani has unquestionably the greatest choice on the island .

The hotel has 327 rooms, including 281 standard rooms of 50 m², 6 family rooms of 52 m², 36 family apartments of 56 m², 2 Senior suites of 76 m² and 2 family suites of 110 m². The standard room has a bathroom with a bath tub, a shower and a hair dryer, television, a free individual safe, air conditioning, a mini-bar and telephone line for direct international dialling. The furniture, simple and design, focuses on natural hues. All the rooms have a terrace on the ground floor or a large balcony on the upper floors. All overlook the sea.

With 5 restaurants open at noon and four in the evening, the catering service is particularly varied. Fish, grilled meat, Chinese or Mediterranean pasta, sauteed vegetables, salads, cheese, pastries, mousses, fresh fruits ... Everything is delicious ! It is really advisable to opt for an all inclusive package. It does not allow you to eat in all the restaurants, but it offers quite a choice ( 2 restaurants at noon, 3 in the evening ), it includes snacks at will in bars in the afternoon. As for drinks, various wines are proposed : for you, and with no extra in the all inclusive package, a cabernet-sauvignon, a merlot or a shiraz. Also within the all inclusive package, if you get thirsty at night, open your mini-bar and quench it down with mineral water or soda .

The hotel has two miles of beach, including the "protected bay" in the north, stretching over 300 metres in length and 30 metres in width. The sand is not particularly fine and the difference in height is low. At this point, water can be muddy because of the presence of mangrove swamp. In the south, "la Cambuse" extends over 0.6 mile : it is relatively exposed to wind and the difference in height in the water is important. However, the beauty of this wild beach is worth a look. To the east, a sandy beach runs along the various accommodations. All the necessary equipments are available, specially around "the protected Bay". You can practice free water skiing, snorkeling (equipment supplied), banana, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, pedalo and canoeing. Provide some extra payment for bottle diving, game fishing and catamaran .
