Hotel Insolito Boutique

The hotel is located on the hillside above Praïa de Ferradura, southwest of the Buzios peninsula and 112 mi north of Rio de Janeiro. Allow two and a half hours to get to the airport. Cabo Frio international airport is a mere 18 mi away but it primarily receives Brazilian and Argentinean tourists.

Children under the age of 14 are not allowed at the Insolito Boutique Hotel. A computer is available free of charge for surfing the Internet and free Wifi access is available throughout the hotel, including the guest rooms - for those who come with their own laptop. The wellness centre is equipped with a whirlpool bath surrounded by a panoramic wooden terrace, two massage rooms, a sauna, a hammam, and a relaxation area fitted with comfortable double mattresses in the four-poster style. Foot massages are available at the beach lounge. The panoramic views can be admired from every corner of the hotel: the guest rooms, the restaurant, the bar, the two pools, the spa, the gym, and even the library lounge! Free transfers are organized by the hotel to the famous Rua das Pedras and its activities in the city centre.

Emmanuelle, the French owner of the Insolito Boutique Hotel, put all of her heart into designing the decor of this hotel with definite character, inaugurated in April 2008. The stylish and contemporary furniture includes the renowned 'big mama' armchair and the original wooden sofa carved out of a tree trunk! Guests don't feel as though they are staying in a hotel but rather at a friends' or an aunt's: the 12 guest rooms are distributed among 3 houses standing in the midst of greenery and overlooking superb Praïa Ferradura. The panorama is breathtaking and can be admired from the tranquil setting of the two pools: the first one is rectangular, measures 10x6m, and is 1.3m deep. The second one is bean-shaped, filled with seawater, and is 4m deep. The perfect place to learn how to scuba-dive! It is possible to relax on wooden deckchairs fitted with comfortable cushions laid out on a panoramic wooden terrace. Towels are supplied on the spot for free, complementing the optimal level of comfort provided by the shower, parasols, two hydromassage baths and a white futon with cushions. Delicious caipirinhas, amongst many other drinks, are served at the bar that is open from 11:00am to 11:00pm.

The 12 guest rooms at the Insolito Boutique Hotel are unique, in the sense that they show 12 different aspects of Brazilian history, culture, art and music. The rooms are distributed throughout 3 houses, each with a definite theme: music, literature, Afro-Brazilian culture, and landscapes. They all guarantee great comfort with their top of the range amenities: a flat screen LCD television showing numerous channels, a DVD player combined with a free DVD menu, an iPod, individual air conditioning, a mini bar fridge, a direct telephone line, free wireless Internet access, and a free digital code-operated safe large enough to fit a laptop. Consisting of white walls, waxed concrete flooring, and adorned with flowers, the guest rooms are spacious and equipped with a large mirror, elegant wooden furniture, and even confetti rugs in some of them! Their wooden terraces provide superb views of the sea. The mosaic-covered bathrooms come with a tropical shower - some even have a whirlpool bath - a toilet, a hair dryer (hidden in the wardrobe), bathrobes, havaiana flip flops (a complimentary gift), and a set of elaborate welcome toiletries from the Brazilian brand Granado (using Amazonian plants). Room service is available from 8:00am to 11:00pm.

The Insolito restaurant is one of Buzio's top restaurants. Trained by the famous French chef Troisgros, the Brazilian chef prepares à la carte Brazilian and French fusion cuisine: an absolute treat even for the most demanding of gourmets! The cellar holds more than 120 different bottles of wines, including several grand crus. The setting is a fair rival to the menu: a panoramic view of the sea, a fresco of the sea goddess Yemanja, pretty floorboards, and - of course - a terrace. Altogether, there is room to seat 34 guests. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 11:00am, after which meals are served continuously from 1:00pm until 11:00pm. The Insolito also organizes romantic candlelit dinners by the pool side or at the private beach, where a trendy restaurant bar & lounge is open to guests from 11:00am to 7:00pm.

The Insolito Boutique Hotel has a private area at the end of the superb and immense Ferradura Beach, southeast of the Buzios peninsula. Beach service and massages are available for a fee; moreover, a trendy restaurant bar & lounge is at the guests' disposal from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The relaxation area's fine layout is one of the highlights of the hotel: a lawn, rest beds fitted with white mattresses under a white canvas, 5 Moroccan tents for VIPs, a fisherman's boat for decorative purposes, and a whirlpool bath embedded in a tree trunk (just like the shower)! In the evening and on request, candlelit dinners are organized for couples on a romantic getaway, and from Thursday to Sunday, a DJ really gets the party going on the beach with crazy beats! Beyond this private little corner of beach lies the popular and lively public Ferraduro Beach, with its large beautiful bay lined with fine white sand. It is the chic beach of Buzios where people go windsurfing, banana-boating, jet skiing, water skiing and kayaking.
