A brand new hotel, that without a doubt will attract plenty of holiday-makers. It offers many facilities and services that will appeal even the most demanding customers.

Based in Cabarete, the Viva Wyndham Tangerine lies on the road to Sosua, 25 minutes from the airport of Puerto Plata and just 3 minutes from Cabarete centre. The hotel is located at the far west of the main beach in Cabarete.
Built in 2003, the Viva Wyndham Tangerine has chosen to offer accommodation in one of the most beautiful areas in the north-west of the island. Indeed, Cabarete is one of the most popular and lively areas on the north coast. The beach of Cabarete attracts kite and windsurfing enthusiasts and is famous worldwide. The Viva Wyndham Tangerine has many ramps to facilitate access for people with disabilities. Customers wear a bracelet in different colours depending on the language they speak, a very convenient system for the hotel staff. "Big guys" are welcome to measure their strength in arm wrestling competitions organised in the evening. Hungry guests can take care of their bursts of hunger almost round the clock, at the different snack bars. Worth noting is the fact that the safe is free, which is rare among the hotels in the Dominican Republic.
A lodging tip:
The rooms are located in a number of two-storey buildings without elevators, so it is recommended that elderly or disabled guests be accommodated on the ground floor, or at the central building, where elevators are provided. Two rooms are provided for people with disabilities.
The Viva Tangerine is a very pretty brand new hotel. It is a complex consisting of 11 buildings painted in ochre, accessed by small pathways and bordered by flowers. In addition to 35 rooms located on the various floors, the main building, equipped with elevators and in the centre of the complex, houses a lovely spa, the main restaurant, a souvenir shop, a medical centre and an Internet cafe on the upper floors and a weight room, well furnished with sports equipment, in the basement. Between the central building and the beach, there is a large swimming pool, spanned by a small wooden bridge, separating the large basin equipped with a volleyball net and a basketball hoop; a small pool. A Jacuzzi heated to 40°C allows you to relax while watching dance lessons taking place right beside you, between the kids' club and the theater. A snack bar allows you to nibble something all day around the swimming pool. To each side, the two a la carte restaurants, "Viva Mexico" (Mexico) and "La Vela" (Italian), face each other. The program of events is displayed in front of the buffet restaurant, the Bahia.
All 221 rooms are housed in three buildings. Organised on three floors, you can access the rooms only by stairs. The hotel, which is member of Viva Wyndham Resorts, has 166 superior rooms, 31 superior rooms with a sea view, 20 junior suites and 4 suites. Some lodgings are communicating, thus being suitable for families. All are equipped with a king-size bed or two queen size beds, air-conditioning, a fully furnished bathroom with a flexible shower, a bidet and a toilet, not separated, personal skin care products, a clothes line and a hair dryer. Each room also has cable television (84 channels but the remote is linked to the wall by a wire), a complimentary safe, a stocked fridge, a clock radio, a terrace or a balcony and mosquito nets on the windows. Clean and decorated with two beautiful and simple paintings, the rooms lack light to read by in the evening, partly because of there are no bedside lamps. An iron and ironing board are available at the reception. A good choice, European outlets have been installed everywhere, including the bathroom, therefore you don't need and adaptor! The suites have large jacuzzi baths.
The main restaurant, the Bahia, has a large and beautifully decorated dining room where you can admire the sea. The buffet is located in the middle of the room. It is varied and offers both local and international cuisine with different themes (Italian, Mediterranean, Dominican, French, oriental...). Two other restaurants serve Italian and Mexican specialities, a la carte. They open doors at lunchtime and it is advisable to make a reservation beforehand. Both restaurants also serve a special crawfish menu, at a fixed rate. The snack bar by the pool is open from 11 AM to 6 PM, and then the Italian restaurant "La Vela" takes over, offering snacks from 11 PM to 7 AM! You can dine at any time of day or night.
The magnificent beach of Cabarete is world famous for its windurfing and kitesurfing, and a number of races are organised for the World Cup in June. The beach of Cabarete is peaceful in the morning and the wind blows stronger every afternoon, providing a kick-off for kite surf and windsurf enthusiasts. From there you can watch an impressive ballet of multicoloured sails floating on the waves: a unique spectacle. The sea becomes rough with some beautiful rolls that will delight enthusiasts, but be careful! Swimmers must be careful to avoid collision! Less experienced swimmers may simply prefer the swimming pool for safety reasons. Surfing takes place in the morning on the beach of Playa Encuentro, 3 miles away. A ban on motorsports on the beach ensures healthy serenity.
Pleasant and lined with palm trees, the beach, unfortunately, has suffered from mass tourism: you can see, here and there, a few cigarette butts, plastic cups and beer cans. Deckchairs, sunshades and towels are provided free of charge to customers of the hotel and you may also join a team playing beach volleyball. The beach towels are provided with a card that warns you that you will have to pay 10 dollars in case of losing your towel. Three double showers fitted with a faucet for your feet allow you to take a quick shower after your swim. The sailing club awaits you with the joys of surfing, kite surfing and other water activities. As the beach is public, there is no bar nor restaurant operating on the spot. The watersports centre is located on a wooden podium, off the beach.
