Aparthotel Caleta Garden is located at the heart of the seaside resort of Caleta de Fuste, and thanks to its large apartments fitted with kitchens, is perfect if you are looking for a good quality to price ratio and a bit of independence. It is ideal for families with children or group of friends. An activity leader will look after your children as they enjoy a range of activities. The older ones can take part in a number of different sports.
Aparthotel Caleta Garden is located at the heart of the Caleta de Fuste tourist resort on the east coast of Fuerteventura, 10 mi from the capital, Puerto del Rosario. Only 4 mi to the north, it should take just 5 minutes by road to get to the airport.
Like all the hotels in Fuerteventura, the Caleta Garden is open all year round, because the weather is always fine! The surrounding area is calm, but this is disturbed from time to time by aeroplanes landing and taking off at the nearby airport. Built in 1997, the Aparthotel Caleta Garden can take up to 750 guests. Most visitors are English, like the activity leader. Over the road is Los Arcos Castillo, a big shopping centre with many shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.
Corner rooms have a terrace. You can choose between studios measuring 290 sq ft, mostly on the ground floor, apartments measuring 377 sq ft on the second floor, and apartments measuring 484 sq ft with 2 bedrooms, able to sleep up to 6 people and well suited to families.
The Caleta Garden has 220 apartments spread over a two-storey white building forming a U-shape around the swimming pool. The pool is 6 ft deep and open from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm; there is also a round pool 2 ft deep for children. Towels are provided free of charge - you can find these in your room. There are deckchairs, parasols and a shower in the sun-bathing area, which is nice and peaceful. Our favourite place was the panoramic terrace which offers a fine view of the surrounding area as you relax comfortably on your deckchair or, better still, in the jacuzzi.
The Caleta Garden offers large, well equipped apartments (323 sq ft) with kitchens, which is very practical! There are two hotplates, a microwave, fridge, toaster, sink, cutlery, dishes - basically all you need to rustle up a quick meal. There are even egg cups for your boiled eggs! There are enough plates, forks, knives etc. for 6 people. The rooms have tiled floors, and they are nicely decorated with pretty paintings. There is a double bed, a safe with a key (£10.50 for a week), a small satellite television set with 20 channels (but no remote control) and a telephone. There is no air conditioning, although it rarely gets too hot in Fuerteventura. There is a terrace (or a big balcony) overlooking the garden, provided with a green plastic table and four chairs, and a washing line. The lounge has a double sofa-bed, an armchair and a coffee table. The bathroom has a small bath with a flexible shower, hospitality products and a toilet. However, there is no hair-dryer.
A show cooking buffet restaurant serves breakfast from 8.00 to 10.00 am and dinner from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. For lunch, a snack bar by the swimming pool offers sandwiches, salads, burgers and hot dogs with chips. There is a musical themed night on Tuesday and Friday. The Tropical bar, a Venezuelan restaurant, is located near the sports installations.
Caleta de Fuste beach is 984 ft from the hotel. It is called Playa del Castillo because of the old fort, now classed as a historical site, which is located in the grounds of Barcelo Club El Castillo hotel. Located in a small cove, it is a beach of rather coarse brown sand, with some pebbles, sheltered out of the wind in a shallow lagoon with clear water, which sets it apart from the immense beaches of fine sand and big waves which are more common on Fuerteventura. It is quite busy but remains tranquil, and has bins positioned along its length. If you are sporty, you can play beach volleyball. To the left is a pretty little harbour reached along the path running the length of the beach, and many bars and restaurants are located there. There is a water sports club nearby. You can also take a camel ride along the beach.
