Hotel Elba Palace Golf

The Elba Palace Golf Hotel is in the tourist resort of Caleta de Fuste, 8 mi from the capital Puerto del Rosario, set back from the sea, on the east coast of Fuerteventura. For the journey from the airport, located only 5 mi further to the north, allow for a 5 minute journey.

Golf enthusiasts will be more than satisfied with the wonderful, superbly laid out golf course, designed by the famous architect Juan Caterineau. You can also play tennis and do weight training in the superior gym with the latest equipment, a dressing-room, showers and toilets. The beach is rather far away; however, a shuttle bus takes you there free of charge.

The Elba Palace Golf Hotel is located in a pleasant tropical garden surrounding a superb, wonderfully arranged golf course, the Fuerteventura golf club. A member of the Spanish hotel Group Elba hoteles, the establishment, built in 2002, has 61 rooms including 10 suites distributed over a beautiful two-storey structure organised around a vast Spanish colonial Moorish-style patio, topped with a tiled roof. There are two elegant smoked mirror lifts operating in the building. A stunning fountain takes pride of place in the ensemble that elegantly reveals pillars, vaults, arches and balconies in typically Canarian wood. Along the walls you can discover a parrot cage, palm trees, and a treasure chest. There are different living areas organised around the patio: a cosy library lounge with a chimney and games tables, a pub with a piano, an a la carte restaurant for the evening, and a terrace cafeteria where you can have your lunch, with a stunning view over the golf course, the garden and the swimming pool, with the sound of birdsong in the background. Open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and 2m 05cm deep, it has a small island with a palm tree, surrounded by a sun deck in a green and peaceful setting. Wooden deckchairs, mattresses and parasols are available. Towels are provided free of charge at reception. Children have a round pool 30 cm deep. Pleasant, fragrant corridors lead to the rooms of the Elba Palace Golf Hotel, which are in-keeping with the establishment: in their charm and elegance. Fitted with a lovely parquet floor which creaks under your feet, the rooms gracefully display their wooden furniture: a round table, an armchair, a desk; there is wooden furniture everywhere, and its pleasant scent fills the room. The paintings attached to the wallpapered walls once again reinforce this impression of the hotel as being distinguished and chic. You sleep in elegant king-sized beds, and can admire a stunning view over the golf course from a large Canarian balcony with its beautiful wooden guardrail, round table and two chairs. The pleasant sound of birdsong can be heard in the background. The rooms are vast (more than 30m²), and they all benefit from a sea view. There is a satellite television (10 channels) a DVD player, a free safe, individual and discreet air-conditioning as well as a ceiling fan, a fridge, and a telephone with internet access. The bathroom is: impeccable, and well decorated with green marble and a mosaic floor. There is a bath fitted with two handles and a flexible shower head, a double basin, dressing gowns and slippers, a telephone, hospitality products, a magnifying mirror, flowers, tissues, a bidet and separate toilets. Room service is provided until midnight.

For your meals, the Elba Palace Golf Hotel offers its Hoya 19 cafeteria (hole no.19 as a reference on the golf course), with a terrace with a view over the golf course, where breakfast is served from 7:30 am to 11:00 am, and lunch from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. It also serves as a bar. In the evening, get a place at the 'Saint-Andrews' gastronomic a la carte restaurant (named after the golf Mecca in Scotland) in a piano bar atmosphere, accompanied by some great wines. Dinner is served from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

A free shuttle bus that runs every hour takes you to Caleta de Fuste beach, located 0.6 mi away. It is called the Castillo beach due to the old fortified castle, classified as a historical monument, which is located within the walls of the Barcelo Club El Castillo Hotel. This relatively big, golden sand beach with a few pebbles nestling in a small bay resembles a shallow lagoon with clear water sheltered by the wind, a real change from the vast fine sandy beaches and rippling waves that you generally find in Fuerteventura. It is quite busy but quiet, and there are bins placed at regular intervals along the beach. Sporty people can practice beach volleyball. On the left there is a sweet little port that can be reached by the coastal promenade that runs the length of the beach, where there are numerous bars and restaurants. There is a water-sports club nearby. You can ride a dromedary on the beach.
