Hotel Geranios Suites et Spa

The Géranios Suites and Spa is at the southern tip of Playa del Castillo beach, in the tourist resort of Caleta de Fuste. It is 10 mi from the capital, Puerto del Rosario, on the east coast of Fuerteventura. Transfers to the airport, only 4 mi to the north, take just 5 minutes by road.

Everything is big in this hotel: the swimming pool, gym, rooms, and a children's club that your little ones are bound to adore! Basically, you will feel at ease in the Géranios Suites and Spa, and there is plenty of room for everyone! The hotel holds a few little surprises, like the row of banana trees around the corner in one of the corridors. There is also free internet access, and tennis or squash if you enjoy sport.
One of the hotel's strong points is, of course, its spa, which uses Eugène Perma Paris cosmetic products. It includes a pool with hydro-massage jets heated to 35°C, a 37°C jacuzzi, a 12°C cold water pool for the courageous, and sun beds, massages, and other treatments. Some treatments are original: the foot massage which involves walking on pebbles is hard to forget. As in the rest of the hotel, the designer features are memorable too, such as the heated stone-mosaic deck chair.

Accommodation Advice:

If you wish to play lord of the manor, stay in one of the 10 villas. They have a garden and a private 130 sq ft (20 ft x 7 ft) swimming pool. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath. You will not want to leave your room behind!

A member of the Catalan hotel group Solvasa, the Géranios Suites and Spa consists of two three-storey pastel coloured buildings arranged in a semi-circle, with 223 rooms. It opened recently, in August 2005, and has been very well thought out. You will feel very much at ease, and there works of art to be seen here and there, for example a reproduction of "Venus de Milo". The two swimming pools are surrounded by a sun deck area with a green lawn. Deck chairs, showers and sunshades are provided, as well as free towels that are directly supplied on the spot. They are 4.75 ft deep and open from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm. There is the large main swimming pool; one for children, and a second smaller one with hydro-massage jets, surrounded by a small sun deck area with a superb view over the Castillo beach and harbour. You may also notice the camels giving tourists rides along the beach.

This is one of the hotel's strong points! They are large (646 sq ft), with a private terrace offering a lovely view of the sea, and have a kitchen in a separate room. Crockery, cutlery, a sink, oven, four electric rings, a fridge, and even a freezer are provided. There is a pleasant lounge area with black tiled floors, a round glass table, three chairs, a coffee table, two armchairs, a wooden desk, and a double sofa bed. The satellite TV broadcasts 20 channels. It goes without saying that the facilities and services are excellent: there is a large, free electronic safe, a king size bed in the first-floor room, air conditioning, a telephone with internet access, and 24-hour room service. A laundry area holds a washing machine and a washing line. The rooms have parquet flooring and are decorated with a painting and pretty wallpaper. They also have a mini-bar. The terraces have been provided with a deck chair, a round table, two chairs, and a washing line. The bathroom is splendid! It is lit by three light fittings, and includes a bath with a grab-bar and flexible shower, a toilet separated by a sliding glass door with a bidet and telephone, a separate flexible shower, a double sink, a hair-dryer, bathrobes, hospitality products, and magnifying mirror. The 10 villas are organised as duplexes, with a bedroom and terrace on the first floor, and a living room on the ground floor. The terrace has a private garden and small swimming pool.

The Los Geranios buffet restaurant is also stylish, in line with the rest of the hotel. Breakfast is served from 8.00 am to 10.30 am; dinner from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm in the winter, and 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm in the summer. A pleasant area with show cooking offers local and international cuisine. At lunchtime, there is a choice between the swimming pool snack-bar and the Italian "à la carte" restaurant. The Géranios Suites has two bars where you can sample your favourite cocktails: the swimming pool bar and the piano bar, which has a large television screen.

Caleta de Fuste beach is just below the hotel. It is reached directly by crossing the seaside promenade. It is called Playa del Castillo because of the old fort, now classed as a historical site, which is located in the grounds of Barcelo Club El Castillo hotel. Located in a small cove, it is a beach of rather coarse brown sand, with some pebbles, sheltered out of the wind in a lagoon with clear water, which sets it apart from the immense beaches of fine sand and big waves which are more common on Fuerteventura. It is quite busy but remains tranquil, and has bins positioned along its length. Sporty types play beach volleyball. To the left is a pretty little harbour reached along the path running the length of the beach, and many bars and restaurants are located there. There is a water sports club nearby. You can also take a camel ride along the beach.
