CharmThanks to its magnificent and immense lawn, the Iberostar Kerkyra Golf gives the impression of infinite space. A quality which is rare for most of the hotels in Corfu. Here, you will not be piled up on top of other holiday-makers, and if you wish to be more isolated, there is no lack of space! Moreover, the culture shock is unlikely to be overwhelming as 90% of the guests are European.
Set in the village of Alikes Potamos, the Iberostar Kerkyra Golf is located only 2 mi from the city of Corfu, but also from the airport, as both are next to each other. Allow no more than 10 minutes to make the journey in either direction. However, if you wish to go to the centre, beware of rush hour, when the streets are often jammed.
Water sports lovers will be able to use the hotel beach. However, they are provided by an outside company, you will therefore have to pay for them. During that time, your little ones will be able to make the most of the kids' club, but only during school holidays.
For your information, the hotel is open from mid-April to mid-October.
Open since 1972 and renovated for the last time in the winter of 2001-2002, the Iberostar Kerkyra Golf is a very high-standard luxury hotel. The hotel offers various events, such as live music three times a week or even a Greek night once a week, but the establishment is big enough to avoid all this if you just wish to have some peace and quiet. On arrival, you will find a large, white and welcoming building. The elegant main entrance door opens onto a modern lobby, bright and pleasing to the eye, devoid of superfluous decoration. Just next to the reception there is a garden outside, allowing you to take refreshments in the shade of some parasols. On the other side, there are some large bay windows which allow you to access a huge outdoor lawn. The hotel sits on a 22 acre park. This is where you will find the communal areas. A large eight-shaped swimming pool is a good place to sunbathe. Take a seat on one of the deckchairs discreetly laid out around the pool. Your little ones will be able to go to the kids' club, outlying in the garden. A small pool is available there as well as various activities during the school holidays.
The hotel has 240 bedrooms including 120 in the main 5-storey building. They all have a beautiful view of the garden with the sea in the background. The basic standard rooms are very spacious and have a balcony fitted out with a plastic table and wrought iron chairs. Contrary to the rest of the hotel, the bedrooms have green flooring, burgundy beds and yellow curtains. On your arrival, a bottle of wine and some water will be laid out on the coffee table of the lounge area. The sofa can actually transform into an additional bed. As for the facilities, nothing's missing: television, free safe, air conditioning, mini-bar with coffee and tea facilities, direct line for international calls and a hair dryer. As for the bathroom, it has a large white sink and a bath tub.
The main restaurant, the Nausica, offers a buffet for breakfast and dinner. The buffet is divided into two parts to make access easier, but both parts offer the same choice of food. In general, you will have a choice of ten hot dishes and five cold ones. Even vegetarians will find just what they want, as well as people on a diet. There is also a buffet for children. The room is nicely designed and the outdoor terrace will allow you to take your meals outside. The latter is due to be extended. For lunch, go to the Onissilos Restaurant, at the swimming pool. Seven dishes are offered, in the shade of a pergola.
A rare event in Corfu: the deckchairs are available for free! Rare are the hotels where this kind of service is free, as all of Corfu's beaches are public. The hotel is accessed via a small stone path in the garden. The beach runs the length of the hotel, no worries then about being too close to the other guests. In the water, you will mainly find sand, even if seaweed has also taken up residence. Swimming seems to be safe enough as there are hardly any waves.
