It is impossible to not find the Iberostar Regency Beach, considering that it is on the coastal road. Thanks to its elevated position, it benefits from a beautiful view of the sea, but the rooms on that side are also positioned above the road. The rooms are comfortable her, but the beach is too small to be able to take all of the hotel guests.
The Iberostar Regency Beach is located along the coastal road, in the town of Benitses. The city of Corfu is 10 mi away, the airport 9 mi away. Allow approximately 30 minutes to make the trip in either direction. However, if you wish to go to the city centre, beware of the rush hour, when the roads are often jammed.
At reception, the staff speak very good English. Keep in mind that the water sports available on the beach are provided by a company independent of the hotel. This means that you will have to pay extra for these activities. Children between 5 and 12 years old will be able to go to the kids' club from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The club organises a mini-disco once a week.
For your information, the hotel is open from April to October.
Between the sea and the mountain, the Iberostar Regency Beach offers a beautiful location, despite being placed on the side of a road. The hotel lobby faces the sea and the large bay windows offer lots of light. The reception is set behind a large white marble counter. You will find lounge areas on the side, as well as on the first floor, which opens out onto the lobby. To get to the two hotel swimming pools, go to 6th floor. Walk past the amphitheatre, along the footbridge, up a few steps, and you've reached the first one! This one is just a rectangular pool with a rather small solarium. Deckchairs and parasols are available. However, once full, the place quickly becomes noisy. If you are brave enough, walk down a long slope and a few more steps further. You will be rewarded by a second swimming pool, a lot nicer and less busy than the first as it isn't so easily accessible.
As the hotel has an all-inclusive option, you will receive a little bracelet to keep around your wrist which gives you unlimited access to the food and drinks. Vending machines are at your disposal all over the hotel.
The 221 rooms of the hotel are spread out on five of the six floors of the main building. Some extra ones are located in the top part of the building, by the swimming pools. The interior decoration is Mediterranean in style. The basic standard rooms are spacious and the light colours of their interior give a good all-round impression. Outside, a small balcony is furnished with a clothes-horse, a table and two plastic chairs. No worries as far as comfort is concerned: TV, air-conditioning, safe available for a fee, an empty mini-bar, a direct line for international calls and room service until 12 midnight. The bathroom is large enough to hold a bath tub, equipped with a soap dispenser.
The Regency Beach has two restaurants. The main one, close to the reception, is open for breakfast, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, and for dinner, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. It is a large hall with many tables, but they are placed too close to one another. The place has an outdoor terrace with a beautiful view of the sea. The only trouble is that the road runs just underneath it. The dishes are presented as a buffet and some are prepared on request. For lunch, go to the Taverne buffet on the beach, open from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. It wouldn't harm to add an extension to the place because it soon becomes over-crowded.
Like all the beaches in Corfu, the Regency Beach hotel's is public. To get to it, just use the tunnel which is part of the hotel, so that you don't cross the road. Unfortunately, the beach is too narrow to be able to take many people. It is impossible to have your own private space with the deckchairs so close to one another. You don't really know where to sit! The beach consists mainly of pebbles. However, the water is quite clear and a lifeguard is there to supervise the swimmers.
