Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real

The Atlantis Bahia Real is situated in the town of Corralejo, on the north coast of Fuerteventura, along a small, natural pebble beach, just over 1 mi from the Corralejo Dunes Nature Park. The 25 mi transfer from the airport generally takes about 40 minutes.

The Atlantis Bahia Real stands facing Lanzarote, so you can take the ferry across from the port for a day trip to the sister island. This half-board hotel is one of the few luxury hotels on the island (along with the Sheraton in Caleta de Fuste) and has an absolutely outstanding spa. There are two computers in the lobby that guests can use to access the Internet free of charge. A free shuttle is available to take you to the magnificent Corralero Dunes Beach, ten minutes away twice a day, as this beach is better for swimming than the beach at the hotel. The La Bohème pub boasts a disco, entertainment and a large-screen television for sporting events such as the World Cup. Children have their own mini club where they are taken good care of at the mini-club and which offers a great many activities.

Accommodation advice

All of the rooms offer a high level of comfort and have beautiful views of the sea, but those who want something more should request one of the 72 suites, which are even more spectacular!

Built in 2003, the Atlantis Bahia Real, a former member of the Kempinski hotel chain, has 242 rooms housed in a two storey, ochre sand-coloured building. You would think you were in a palace with its absolutely charming decor and its beautiful tropical garden, where you'll even find an artificial river. Birds singing can be heard from every floor, making this an incredibly romantic place and the setting for many weddings, performed in an area specifically designed for this purpose. You'll also find, tucked away amid the greenery, the beautiful and very inviting 1,45m deep swimming pool, complete with changing cubicles. It is the perfect place to relax comfortably on one of the cushioned deck chairs provided. Showers and parasols are, of course, also provided and towels are available on site for a deposit of 25 pounds. One of the hotel's strongest points is the Bahia Vital spa, where you're guaranteed a wonderful time of relaxation. Open between 9:00am and 8:00pm, it has a large swimming pool heated to 29°C, embellished with waterfalls and other hydromassage jets, a large outdoor jacuzzi bath, 17 treatment rooms and a cold water pool for the more courageous. Great for a quick dip between two sessions in the sauna or hammam. For a less aggressive way to cool off, try rubbing a few ice cubes onto your skin, straight from the mouth of our friend the polar bear! Or perhaps take a dip in the pool, your reflection gazing back at you from the glass ceiling above. There is even a sunbed you can use. With an area of 3,000m², the spa offers a beautiful view across to the islands of Lobos and Lanzarote through its large picture window, whilst the upmarket gym also looks out through a lovely big picture window and has all the latest machines. We apologize for being repetitive, but the El Mirador piano bar in the lobby also has a beautiful picture window (as its name indicates), which is great for admiring the islands of Lobos and Lanzarote.

The pillars and arches at the entrances to the guest rooms at the Atlantis Bahia Real set the tone for what you'll find inside, including marble floors, mosaic tables on the terraces and king size beds. The decor in the guest rooms is based around one of four themes, namely French, Japanese, Classic, and Spanish, though it has to be said that all of the rooms are undeniably charming, not least as a result of the stone arches they feature. A beautiful terrace offers breathtaking views of Lobos and Lanzarote. The rooms are large (30m²) and well-equipped, complete with a desk, a sofa bed for two, an armchair, a coffee table, a free electronic safe (items covered up to the amount of 1,250 pounds), a kettle, a large flat screen satellite television broadcasting 34 channels, individual air conditioning and a telephone, as well as an Internet connection. The rooms are also equipped with mosquito nets and an electric anti-mosquito device.
Just like the bedrooms, the bathrooms are large, clean and nicely decorated; everything is sparkling and fragrant! Smelling of flowers and with patterns on the floor and marble everywhere, they include a bathtub with a flexible shower (and powerful, too, which is quite rare for the hotels of Fuerteventura), a magnifying mirror, a hair dryer, a double sink, bathrobes and welcome toiletries.
The 72 suites feature columns and archways, the beautiful desk is adorned with a wonderful globe and the carpeted panoramic lounge will soon have you daydreaming. On the other hand, one moment inside the marble bathroom and you'll never want to step back out! Accessed via a wooden sliding door, the bathrooms feature pink wallpaper as well as a jacuzzi bath and a tropical shower for your comfort. There is even a set of scales tucked away in the corner, in case you would like to know how much weight you have lost at the spa, or perhaps the weight you have put on after the delicious meals served in the hotel's restaurants!

It has to be said that Fuerteventura's hotels don't always have the best restaurants, but this not the case at the Atlantis Bahia Real. With no fewer than five restaurants to choose from, you're sure to find something to satisfy your taste buds!Starting with the buffet at the Alacena Real restaurant, which is located on the ground floor below the lobby. This huge restaurant presents its dishes like a work of art, and there is a great deal of variety, too. You will be drooling even before you are served, especially if you arrive before the rush that slowly ruins this grand buffet. There really is something to suit all tastes, including Mexican, Canarian, Asian, Spanish and Italian, not forgetting the seafood evening on Fridays! The restaurant also has a terrace area decked with banana trees. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 11:00am and dinner from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
If you prefer the à la carte option, you will be spoilt for choice here too. The Yamaturi Japanese restaurant will tempt you with sushi and teppanyaki and is where the chef quickly and skilfully cuts the vegetables and meat that are then cooked right in front of you.

Take a pause from the Catalan gastronomy to experience the Cupola on the top floor of the hotel where the majestic dome is located, which can be seen by going to the lobby and looking up. This restaurant also features a remarkable painting created by an Italian artist. From the restaurant, the view of the hotel and its gardens is magnificent, especially at night when it is set off particularly well by the lighting. The à la carte restaurants serve dinner at a later hour, between 7:30pm and 10:30pm.
During the day, the Las Palmeras Beach Club at the swimming pool serves a variety of snacks between 11:00am and 6:00pm.

The Atlantis Bahia Real stands on the edge of a beautiful unspoilt beach with fine sand which is quickly replaced by pebbles once you step into the clear water, so sandals are highly recommended. The beach is not supervised but a shower and deck chairs are provided. As this is a 5 star establishment, you will be served directly from your deck chair, should you like any refreshments, as you admire the nearby islands of Lobos and Lanzarote, just opposite. You might also like to visit the wonderful and huge Corralejo Dunes Beach, which is a 10 minute bus ride away and to which a free shuttle service runs twice a day. The view of the Corralejo Dunes Nature Park and its volcanoes is also impressive. Deck chairs and parasols are available for a charge of a 2,5 pounds.
