Hotel ApartMorasol Atlantico

The Morasol Atlantico is located in the Costa Calma seaside resort in south-east Fuerteventura. The beach is a 656-ft walk away. Allow 50 minutes for the journey from the airport, which is 43 mi to the north.

The apartments have a fully equipped kitchen, and there is also a mini-market and a launderette. There is also a mini-golf course. For diving enthusiasts, the hotel houses the PADI-certified Easy-Diving centre. The apartments have panoramic terraces that offer beautiful views of Costa Calma beach and the ocean.

Air conditioning is only provided in apartments in the Atlantico, which are in the most recent building. The bathrooms in this building are bigger too, with a big bath.

The 138 apartments are located in two sand-coloured buildings separated by a private road: the Morasol, a 4-storey building dating from 1992, which has 38 apartments and this year received a welcome renovation; and the newer Atlantico, built in 2002, which has 100 appartments. Each building has its own rectangular swimming pool 5 ft deep and a pool for children. The sun-bathing area has showers, parasols and deckchairs. Towels are provided in the rooms. There are no events organised, so tranquility is pretty much guaranteed. Deckchairs are dotted around all over the hotel: by the swimming pools, on the terraces and in the pleasant botanical garden. The Morasol is open all year round and can accomodate 300 guests.

With tiled floors and white walls decorated with a pretty framed photo of Fuerteventura, the spacious apartments of the Morasol Atlantico also have a fully equipped kitchen with sink, dishes, cutlery, fridge, toaster, two hotplates, tea and coffee making facilities and even egg cups for your boiled eggs. Apart from the kitchen, the other strong point is the terrace in each apartment: this is very large and has a very beautiful view over the sea. Fitted with a deckchair, a round white plastic table and two chairs, it also has a washing line, which is very handy for hanging out some washing or drying your bathing costumes. The rooms have a big safe in one corner (£12 a week), a satellite television set with 20 channels and a telephone. The lounge has a coffee table, a sofa-bed, an armchair and a rectangular table with three chairs.
The bathroom has a bath with a flexible shower, toilet and a hair-dryer, but there are no hospitality products, so don't forget to bring your own soap, shower gel and shampoo! The hot water tank has pride of place on the wall, which is not hugely attractive.

The restaurant is a very nice setting, with fine original decor: a lighthouse here, two excellent model boats there, shells, an anchor, fish, you could not feel closer to the sea! There is a smoking and non-smoking area. Breakfast is served from 8.00 to 10.00 am and dinner from 6.00 to 9.00 pm. Lunch is an 'a la carte' snack menu. Don't miss the Canary Islands buffet on Tuesday, complete with music: it's party time! The swimming pool bar is open from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm. The barman sets brainteasers and organises other funny games.

A road takes you 656 ft to the deckchairs and parasols at the southern end of Costa Calma beach. It is a fine sand beach leading down to clear water. The bars and restaurants are a little further on, towards the centre of Costa Calma beach, where most of the resort's hotels are also located. The location is peaceful and there is a lifeguard, but be careful of waves and the current, which can be strong. Guests at the hotel can enrol at the Easy-Diving centre, which is certified by PADI.
