CharmLocated in a large tropical garden that runs along the heavenly sea, the Rio Calma is a high-standard hotel perfectly adapted for couples but also for families. Its numerous facilities, spa, mini- golf, or multi-sport field make the picture of activities complete which will satisfy different desires.
The Rio Calma is ideally located on the verge of the sea on the east coast of Costa Calma, well away from other hotelier complexes that are located in this summer resort on the south-east of Fuerteventura. For transfers from the airport located 43.5 miles north, count 50 minutes.
Member of the Spanish hotelier chain called R2 Hotels, that also includes the Pajara Beach hotel, the Rio Calma was launched in 2003. It offers clients two free spa sessions of two hours. Then you will have to pay 8 pounds for each new session. A room is specially reserved for those who want to practice yoga or aerobics. A very nice mini-golf field fitted out in a tropical luxuriance allows you to relax in a tranquil environment. The kids will also be busy thanks to the large mini-golf that has everything taken care of for the little wolves. As most of the Canaries hotels, Rio Calma is open all year round, thanks to the eternal spring climate that reigns these islands. The beach towels are supplied in consideration of a deposit. The beach chairs and sunshades are free of charge in the surroundings of the pool but paying close to the salt water lagoon and to the beach.

Families with kids can ask for one of the 60 communicating rooms. You should also be aware that 68 rooms don't have balcony. The last floor rooms enjoy a better view.
The Rio Calma is a very nice hotel with colonial architecture located in a wide tropical environment. Thus you will have the opportunity to roam on the paths of the stunning tropical garden of 172,160 feetē, planted with cactus and palm trees and embellished by seats, fountains and aqueducts. The arrival in the monumental lobby with a palace appearance is impressive, with its stained glass window and its panoramic elevators. From afar, you would say it's a church! The 384 rooms are divided in a large colonial style building, U shaped from 4 to 6 floors. Sports lovers will have the opportunity of enjoying a multi-sport field where they can practice tennis, handball and soccer. Welfare amateurs can calmly enjoy the spa to spoil in one of the 3 massage rooms, two for balneotherapy with aquatic beach chair and bubbling bath in a well fitted out frame evoking ancient Rome. For a refreshing bath, you are offered three pools, out of which one is a very large overflow pool (5.57 feet in depth ), and divided in two parts out of which one is heated, embellished by wood decks and a great waterfall hidding a cavity. The children can bath in a small round pool of 17.5 feet in depth and the clients are offered beach chairs, sunshades and showers. If you go down towards the beach, you will get to an artificial salt water lagoon, accessible with the key of the room.
The rooms of Rio Calma are pleasant and well decorated, with wooden furniture and a tiled floor. They all are equipped by satellite television (15 channels), individual air-conditioning, a paying safe with electronic code, a mini-bar, direct telephone line, a small balcony fitted out with a dry-line, tables and chairs offering a great view of the ocean. The bathroom is clean and very nicely decorated. It has a bathtub equipped by two handle and a flexible shower. Welcome products, hair-dryer, make-up mirror, bidet and non separate toilets make the equipment complete. The walls of the suites are made of visible stone evoking the farm towns of the country. The suites offer a separate shower and a large jacuzzi.
The Rio Calma clients take dinner at the Rosa James buffet restaurant offering an international cuisine with show cooking, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Breakfast is served from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. At noon, stay at the Marador Bahia snack terrace, on the verge of the pool. Built in wood from top to bottom, it serves a selection of delicious ā la carte dishes on the panoramic patio overlooking the ocean. The "Pajara" ā la carte restaurant offers delicious Canarian cuisine. At any time during the day, you will have the opportunity to taste your favourite cocktails in one of the 5 bars of the hotel.
You can access the beach by a door that will open with the key of your room. It is a black pebble beach , located in a nice creek, but a sandy area was fitted out in retreat close to the artificial salt water lagoon, with showers, beach chairs and sunshades. A little higher, a pirate tower allows you to observe the skyline. Between two baths, you can refresh yourself at the ''Las Cascadas'' beach bar in a tranquil and restful ambience.
