Hotel Djerba Castille

On the seaside, in the touristic zone of Aghir, 19 miles from Houmt Souk and 25 miles from the airport Expect a 45 minute transfer.

A hotel offering good comfort, the Djerba Castille is perfect for families because of its facilities: a swimming pool with a slide, several small swimming pools, an area for games, and a mini-club are available for children.

The centre for balneotherapy offers treatments and cures as a package or separately, à la carte. The treatments resemble those practiced in thalassa, but the water used is soft water to which algae or marine mud is added.

An L-shaped building, the Djerba Castille stretches in front of Aghir beach. It dates from 2002. Its contemporary architecture is reminiscent of the Djerbian style with its use of rounded vaults. The lobby, spacious and a bit impersonal, has a large bay window. Outside, you look more for the shade of the parasols than of the palm trees, because they are in limited number and the green spaces are reduced to strips of lawn. The main swimming pool, semi-olympic size, is equipped with a water slide. A large paved terrace allows you to relax lying on a lounge chair. Beach towels are obtainable with a deposit.

Of the 282 rooms of the hotel, 80% have a view of the sea; the other ones overlook the surrounding buildings. Note: some of them do not have balcony. from 215 to 270 ft² in size, they are furnished with light wood contemporary style furniture. The walls and floors are white. The bathrooms offer the comfort of separate toilets. They have bathtubs and hairdryers. The rest of the equipment consists of air conditioning, direct telephone, and satellite television. A refrigerator-bar can be installed by request (extra charge). There is a safe at the front desk (extra charge).

Located in a room with bay windows, but no terrace, the buffet restaurant offers a great choice of entrées, hot plates and desserts. Unfortunately, the tables are very close together: those who do not like to eat in a noisy atmosphere should come to eat at the end of service. The snack-bar, near the swimming pool, serves salads, sandwiches or plates of pasta during the day. For those who like Tunisian food, a buffet of these specialities is organised once a week.

You get to the beach along a paved passageway opening to a space which is 655 ft long by 262 ft wide. The sand, carefully maintained is raked everyday. It is bordered with palm trees and shaded with well-spaced straw sunshades. For an extra charge, you can have a pedalo, a surfboard and a kayak.
