GastronomyThe Hilton chain has two properties in the city: one on the beach in Jumeirah, and the other near the Creek, the original part of the city. The Creek property is one of our favourite hotels as far staying in the city goes. The hotel feels small and private without staff always calling you. The rooms are extremely spacious and well-designed with the corner rooms having fantastic views of the creek's beautiful colourful wooden boats. The roof-top pool, although small is also worth a visit, especially at sunset as guests get a stunning view of the city's tallest skyscrapers lined up on both sides of Sheikh Zayed road in the distance. The Hilton Dubai Creek is perfect for a couple looking for a sound base to explore the city from. The hotel is in general quite quiet but groups of friends are welcome. There isn't much of family atmosphere here however.
The hotel is located in the Deira area lining the creek. It is close to the Dubai Golf Course and the airport is a short drive (20minutes) away. The surrounding area of the hotel is one of the best in the city as you have the original part of the city right on your doorstep - no need to drive! The textile, gold and spice souks are not too far away and are definitely worth a look in.
The hotel is well located and there is internet access through-out the hotel although there is a fee to pay for the cable internet connection in the rooms. Although most rooms sleep two adults and one child, there isn't a family atmosphere here. There is however a child's menu at request in the restaurants.
Cosy, stylish and very contemporary, the Hilton Dubai Creek is one of our preferred hotels in the city. In the lobby there are various works of art which give a bit of a New York art gallery feel. The lobby is quite dark, which some guests may not like, but it does feel cosy and seals off the rest of the city from its stone and chrome. Up the spiral staircase adorned with fairy lights, are the restaurants and further up are the rooms which are all identical except in the views. The gym and pool are on the top floor looking out onto Dubai's emblematic skyline - a perfect spot to watch the sun set.
There are 150 rooms spread over 13 floors (the pool and gym are on the 14th floor) and split into four categories: King Deluxe Plus, King Hilton Deluxe, Queen Hilton Guestroom, and Twin Hilton Deluxe. There are also a limited number of suites. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a sleek and contemporary design. All rooms have large floor-to-ceiling windows accentuating the space and rendering the room bright and light. The colour scheme is also different to that of most hotels in Dubai - soft grey carpets and beech wooden panels with a warm reddish glow, teamed with glass panes and aluminium handles. Every room also has complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities as well as all the expected mod-cons such as flat screen televisions. The bathrooms all have bath tubs and Hilton own-brand toiletries. Most rooms also have a free-standing shower as well as bath. The bathrooms are also in a grey colour scheme with round glass washbasins.
For a hotel that feels so small, it has a surprising good range of inspiring restaurants. There is the Glasshouse Brasserie, overseen by Gordon Ramsay, where succulent dishes are served in stylish surroundings of floor-to-ceiling windows and glass floors especially made for the hotel. The Brasserie is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Brasserie is not to be confused with the Michelin-starred chef's first restaurant outside the UK, Verre, where the dining experience is more elegant and refined. Verre is open only for dinner. To relax and unwind with a drink, there is the very contemporary Issimo bar, also overseen by the Gordon Ramsay team, where lights snacks are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner (open until 2am). Otherwise there is also the pool bar which serves drinks and snacks (open lunch and dinner). There is also 24 hour room service.
