RestThe Excelsior hotel is very close (980 feet) to the historic centre of Dubrovnik. This is a city hotel offering great comfort, well-suited for people who are more attracted by cultural discoveries than by swimming.
Located on the seashore, in the Ploce neighbourhood, the Excelsior is the closest hotel to the historic centre, 980 feet away. For transfers to and from Dubrovnik airport (12 miles away), count 20 minutes.
We recommend you refuse the rooms on the street side of the 2nd storey. They open onto a wall.
The artificial beach is not recommended for young children or people who cannot swim very well.
Built in 1965 and renovated in 1998, the Excelsior offers 172 rooms and 18 suites in a 6-storey building with elevator. With its glass façade, it has a modern appearance. The hotel does not have a garden, but offers unrestricted view of the sea and of the historic centre from its vast outdoor terrace. The indoor pool is large and there is a small pool reserved for children. Small outdoor swimming pool with a view of the Adriatic and the city.
The rooms are large (210 square feet) and functional, and the wooden furniture is elegant. They feature satellite television, a well-stocked mini bar, safe, a telephone with direct international access, and individual air conditioning. Bathrooms are large and modern and include a bathtub and a hair dryer. Unfortunately, soundproofing is insufficient, and some rooms are extremely poorly located with a view of a wall, on the street side. All other rooms: balcony, view of the sea, the Lokrum Island, and the historic centre.
The dining room is large and comfortable, and opens onto a covered terrace with sea view. The menu is different every day and offers 4 courses. Soup and salad as starters, then fish or meat. The breakfast buffet is abundant. Delicious pastries and fresh fruit salads. There is also a pleasant tavern on the seashore. There, the chef serves Croatian and international cuisine. A musician plays the piano every night in the bar located on the 2nd storey. From the terrace, the view of Lokrum Island is magnificent.
The hotel's beach is no more than a small dock covered with large concrete slabs. It is perfect for suntanning, but not recommended for children: the slope into the water is steep. Small ladders to enter the water. Deckchairs and nautical base available.
