Hotel Crowne Plaza

In the middle of the summer resort of Eilat, along the marina. Allow about 5 minutes from the airport. The hotel is located close to shopping centres, bars, restaurants and all the nocturnal animations of Eilat.

Despite its old-looking structure, the Crowne Plaza is one of the highest standard hotels of Eilat. It offers a good atmosphere thanks to the animations, in English and Hebrew, around the swimming pool all along the day and to the nocturnal shows offered daily. Sport lovers will find a climbing wall and tennis courts, football and basketball, very rare thing in Eilat.

The rooms were renovated in 2006 and when we were there ( March 2006), the kids club was under renovation.

The Crowne Plaza is a big 9-level building, with 265 rooms. A large lobby, decorated in an African style, houses a snack-bar and different shops, and opens onto an outdoor swimming pool whose solarium allows you to sunbathe with a beautiful view of the marina. Nearby you will find a climbing wall and a spa whose fitness centre has just three apparatus installed in a hallway. For more active people, the hotel equally offers a tennis court, a field for football and one for basketball. For families with children, a mini-club welcomes the kids during the day.

The rooms of the Crown Plaza sparkle more because of their comfort than of their decoration - wooden and rattan furniture, quite basic and floral fabrics. All the rooms offer air-conditioning, TV, telephone, a safe, mini-bar, facilities for tea and coffee  and a small balcony with a view of the mountains or the marina, depending on the direction. Carefully decorated, the suites are quite large with separate rooms, jacuzzi bathroom and a nice terrace. Room service is available from 6:00 in the morning up untill midnight.

The dining room is a large square room, rather nice and bright with large bay windows, where you can have breakfast and dinner kosher buffet - style. The cuisine offers a mixture of local and international cuisine. For lunch, clients can choose between the air-conditioned lobby's snack- bar, offering simple dishes, and the swimming pool snack-bar offering grillings.

To get to the public beaches of Eilat, you have to walk past the marina about 200 m. They are very noisy because of the loudspeakers that offer continuous music, but they are well fitted out. You will also find rentable deckchairs, sunshades, water sports, restaurants, bars. The water here is very clear but there is not much sand and the shore is pretty rocky: be careful if you have sensitive legs!
