Hotel Barcelo Ponent Playa

The hotel is located at Cala ferrera on the verge of a small cove, 1 mile from the centre of the summer resort of Cala d'Or, on the east coast of the Island, 40 miles from Palma and 37 miles from the airport. About one hour driving for transfers.

Half of the rooms of the hotel overlook the pool and the other nearby hotels and the other half of them offer a view of the cove. If you want to have the nice view of the sea, you will have to request it when booking your stay.

Built in 1985, the Barcelo Ponent Playa is made of a main building fairly typical, all in white, of 7 levels. On the side, there is another building that offers suites and a cocktail bar.The hotel was renovated in 2003 which brought a bit of new colours to the establishment. All the facilities of the hotel are clean and well-kept, as is the solarium pool equipped with beach chairs and free sunshades. You can also find a small inside pool open during the low season.

The hotel has 432 rooms. All the units are decorated in the same way, without looking ornate. They have air-conditioning, a paying safe, direct international telephone line, TV and a refrigerator. The bathrooms, covered by a light grey tiling, are pretty nice. Each room offers a balcony with view on the sea or the pool.

Considering the capacity of this hotel, the restaurant is huge. For atmosphere, you should expect to find the hubbub of a large fairly rather than quietness. The tables are, however nicely set up. The choice of buffet is correct but too focused on international cusine made to please the German clients. The ''all inclusive'' formula also includes the drinks with ¼ of wine and ¼ of water.

The hotel is so close to the water! It gives onto a small cove to the north of Cala d'Or. A stunning and calm ambience. The beach is pretty small and packed out in summer time. But is is fitted out by a small nautical club that offers a few activities like pedalo or diving. The beach chairs and the sunshades are rented.
