Hotel Eden Mar

In the Funchal hotel area, 1.2 miles away from downtown and 15 miles away from the airport. It is around 10 min to go downtown and 30 min to go back to the airport.

The Eden Mar is located in the Funchal hotel area, 100 m away from the seafront and the Lido (beach). Its spacious rooms equipped with kitchenette make it a place to be suggested to families. However, note that the hotel does not have a children club or playrooms. Baby-sitting only can be arranged on request. To have dinner outside and do necessary shopping there are restaurants and shops in the immediate surroundings. The Eden Mar offers also a free shuttle service to go to Funchal downtown. It is available from Monday to Friday 7 times a day from 10 am to 5 pm.

Contemporary 6-floors building, the Eden Mar benefited from a renovation in 2001, needed after its construction in 1988. Its U architecture includes gardens leading to the swimming pool, all facing the sea. Decorated with beige marble, the reception is both simple and sober. You will not stay long, to enjoy even more the gardens, meticulously kept but rather small for the capacity of the hotel. Luckily, a 300 m² swimming pool was designed in the centre. It has a children area and is surrounded by a solarium equipped with deckchairs and mattresses. Sunshades are provided at Eur 1.00 per day. For the fitness lovers, the hotel offers a complex including a 150 m² swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a fitness room.

Out of the 146 rooms of the Eden Mar, 55 overlook the sea while the others have a side view of the sea. To benefit from a more extended panorama, you will need to stay on the higher floors. Spacious, the rooms are equipped with a balcony with two painted wood chairs and an imitation marble table. They also have a smartly arranged kitchenette with fridge, hot plates, cooker, kettle and crockery. A loung area is designed to watch satellite TV (broadcasting 30 channels). As for decoration, simplicity is the rule: varnished wood and white walls. Direct international telephone is installed. In the bathroom there are hairdryer, bathtub and welcome products.

The main restaurant offers buffet breakfast and fixed menu for the other meals, except for one evening per week where a buffet of Madeiran specialities is offerd. The room, soberly decorated with white pillars, is warmed by a wooden floor and decorated with impeccably arranged tables. Of international inspiration, the cuisine offers dishes which will be loved by the majority of the guests: fish with sauces, grilled food, pasta, vegetables gratin. For lunch, a snack-bar installed in the garden gives you the chance to eat a sandwich, a salad or an omelette. Concerning prices, consider Eur 10.00 per dish.
