Hotel Closenberg

Located on the southern coast of the island, the Closenberg is at the exit point of Galle. Perched on a headland, it dominates the Galle port and the ocean. The Galle fort is 2 miles away. Galle is a city with a Dutch colonial past located 71.5 miles south of Colombo.

Many weddings are organised in this hotel.

The Closenberg is an old 1860 Dutch colonial house built in on a cliff. The open air reception has a wooden counter. A flower garden around the hotel transforms it into a pastoral setting. Many small flowery corners allow couples to get a few moments of intimacy. Pagodas shelter couples coming to be photographed on the day of their wedding. Many wedding have been held in the large reception hall. The hotel preserved all its antique furniture and so the decoration is colonial. Visible beams, wood flooring, wooden fan, furniture, all remind us of its rich history.

Decorated in colonial style, the 16 rooms maintain the same outlook like the rest of the hotel. The visible framework and the brown tiling are enhanced by the white walls. All the rooms offer a view of the sea and a small balcony allows you to enjoy it. However, they have neither television nor telephone. They have air-conditioning, ceiling fan, refrigerator, and the beds have mosquito net. The bathroom is very spacious, and furnished with bathtub, bidet and washbasin.

Only one restaurant receives guests. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Decorated with antique furniture, the restaurant has the same colonial aura as the rest of the hotel. Sunrays bathe the restaurant's interior through the surrounding windows. Greenery, rock work, wooden furniture and visible framework give the place its lustre. Very quiet environment where you can hear birds singing and the sea roaring. On the menu, you will have bouillabaisse, Italian and Singhalese cuisine and also sea products.
