FamilyThe Corfu Chandris is part of the Chandris Hotels & Resorts hotel chain. Its neighbour, the Dassia Chandris, is the second part of the jigsaw. Whichever of the two you are staying at, you will enjoy the same shared amenities and facilities. The only things that differentiate the two hotels are the bedrooms and the two receptions.
The Corfu Chandris is located in the small town of Gouvia. Corfu town centre is 7.5 mi away, as is the airport, as they are next to each other. Transfer time in either direction is around 15 minutes. However, if you would like to go into the town centre, beware of the rush hours, as there are often traffic jams.
Water sports enthusiasts will be able to indulge their hobby on the hotel beach. However, these activities are organised by an external company and therefore incur an additional charge. The hotel does not accept liability for any problems.
For your information, the hotel is open from the end of April until October.
The Corfu Chandris is impossible to miss as it sits beside the main road that runs through Dassia. From the outside, the hotel looks like an impressive semi-circle. Inside, the reception is to the left of the entrance, behind a wide wooden counter. There is a small lounge area opposite for arrivals. Despite the large picture windows at the back of the lobby the area is still quite dark. This is no doubt due to the low ceiling and lack of lighting. Outside, you will have the choice of three different swimming pools. The first is just next door. The rounded form of the pool is pleasant and a few deckchairs are dotted around it. The whirlpool bath is also nearby. The second swimming pool is located in the garden, not far from the beach. This is much longer than the first one and has more deckchairs. Finally, the last one is on the Dassia Chandris side. The best part of this rectangular pool is the small children's pool alongside it.
The Corfu Chandris has 213 bedrooms. One part is in the main building and the other is in small blocks in the garden. Each has been given the name of a town of the Aegean Sea. This gives the place the feeling of a small Mediterranean village. The standard rooms are very elegant. The combination of brown and beige is lovely. However, you will not have a balcony. As far as facilities are concerned, all the essentials are covered: television, air-conditioning, free safe deposit box, mini-bar, room service, hair-dryer and a direct-dial international line. The well fitted bathrooms are pleasant and hospitality products are provided.
The Corfu Chandris has two restaurants. The main one, the Alkinoos Restaurant, is open in the morning between 7.30am and 10am and in the evening between 7pm and 9.30pm. Designed with a Mediterranean feel, it serves meal in the form of a buffet. International cuisine is also served here. The room has a beautiful outside terrace with a view over the garden and the sea in the background. For lunch, try the Triton Taverna, beside the swimming pool, open between 12pm and 4pm. Dishes are served in self-service form. If you fancy a change, remember that the Dassia Chandris restaurant is also open to you.
The Corfu Chandris is located on the beachfront, although there are still a few steps to go down before burying your feet in the sand! Like all the beaches in Corfu, the hotel's beach is no exception to the rule: it is a public place. You should therefore be aware that if you would like to sit back and relax in a deckchair here it will cost you around £1.80 for the day. The beach is quite wide which means that guests are not on top of each other. The water is clear and swimming pleasant.
