Hotel Abama Resort

The Hotel Abama is located on the south-west coast of Tenerife, next to the village of Adeje. It takes approximately half an hour to reach the hotel from Reina Sofía airport. Take the motorway heading south (Autopista del Sur). Once you reach the Adeje roundabout, follow the directions for Playa San Juan for 10 minutes until you see the red ochre façades of the Abama.

The citadel, the main building of the Abama, has 330 rooms in addition to about ten private villas. All the rooms are decorated differently, but everything - furniture, hi-fi equipment, fabrics - has been selected from the most sophisticated product lines. All the rooms measure over 35 m², and are fitted with state-of-the-art television sets, providing guests with two large 17-inch flat screens, king size beds (6.5 feet x 7.2 feet) and linen bed sheets. All the rooms have a spacious terrace furnished with comfortable armchairs and a table, which will allow you to enjoy the peace and quiet in the very best conditions. The bathrooms are also equipped with the best products and all the comfort that one comes to expect from a 5-star luxury hotel: a hair-dryer, a big bath, a hydro massage shower, a thick cotton bathrobe and a beauty kit, etc. With a mini bar, a safe, and 24-hour room service, the most minute details have been taken care of to ensure that relaxation and well-being are the two terms that will come to best describe your stay in the Abama.

In the Abama, there are no less than 10 restaurants to choose from. The Verona allows you to discover the most refined Italian flavours, while La Pampa offers a gastronomic journey to the heart of Argentinia. At the Abama Spa café, the emphasis is placed firmly on health foods, with daily "light" menus on offer to cater for the health conscious. El Mirador restaurant is near the sea, and specialises in fresh fish and seafood; its view over the ocean makes it a particularly pleasant location. Los Chozos, near the main swimming pool, gives you the chance to try out creative dishes which have been invented according to the principles of "nouvelle cuisine". The Beach Club and Golf Club House were created to allow you to finish your round of golf in a beautiful setting on a gastronomic note, or to bask in the sunshine as you enjoy the exceptional surroundings of San Juan beach. But what would the Abama be without its gourmet restaurant? Martin Berasategui understands just what it takes, and has been running the restaurant from the outset; this year he was once again awarded 3 Michelin stars, and needless to say his food is simply divine!

This is undoubtedly the strong point of the hotel, as Tenerife has very few beaches, and most are covered in black sand from eruptions by the Tiede volcano. There is no evidence of that here though: the Playa San Juan is a small cove of golden sand, and rocks have even been placed opposite the beach to protect this very precious sand. Guests of the Abama are provided with deckchairs and bath towels. The surroundings are truly idyllic, and it is right here that you will realise that you are in the tropics!
