Small, intimate and refined, the Dar Hayet is the address to choose if you want to stay in a typical Tunisian environment There is an attentive and subtle service in this nice facility in the middle of scenery made up of private villas, in the heart of the bay of Hammamet.
On the seaside, 1.2 miles from the medina of Hammamet. For the transfer from Tunis airport (located 35 miles away), allow about 1h for the trip.
The Hayet is recommended to couples. It does not have facilities to accommodate children. Well adapted for a weekend or a discovery stay, it allows you to visit easily Hammamet because of its location in the centre of town. Its intimate settining will please those looking for somewhere with personalised welcoming. In the centre of the hotel, you will find a conditioning center offering different body and face care as well as a hair dresser.
Located in an old house from the 1930's, the Dar Hayet opened in 1996. It is one of the places to receive many famous names and people coming from show-business for an event. Past the big wooden door at the entrance, you arrive inthe lobby, the size of a private living room, decorated with oriental style benches built into the walls, an imposing wrought iron candelabra and a beautiful glass table with a big elegant bouquet on it. Other living rooms follow up the staircase that takes you to the rooms. Outside, on a terrace overlooking at the sea, there is a 1076 ft² swimming pool and a small sunroom equipped with fabric umbrellas, lounge chairs and mattresses. Unfortunately this space is not very large. However, the end of the terrace which holds the tables of the restaurant offers a superb view of the Mediterranean. Ideal place to have breakfast.
The 52 rooms of the hotel include 47 double rooms and 5 suites. 75 % of them have view of the sea; the others overlook the swimming pool or the city at the back. To enjoy a maximum comfort, choose the suites. They are equipped with a bathtub-jacuzzi in the bathroom, a separate living room, and two televisions, one in the bedroom, the other in the living room. All of the rooms can accommodate three people, but it is better to take two rooms if you want to keep your comfort. Whatever is your choice, you will have a bathroom with separate toilet, bathtub, hair dryer and welcome products. Air conditioning has been installed as well as a telephone. Be careful, the safe in the room costs extra. The decor enhances the clean lines of the wrought iron, the natural fabrics in the tone of light blue, and the brightness because of the white walls. With a painted wooden garden set, the balcony adds to the size of the space.
Installed in the lower area by the pool, the restaurant offers a sophisticated environment, with ochre walls and tables dressed with white tablecloths. It is regrettable that the room is not bigger and does not have a terrace apart from the space alongside the solarium. You will have lunch and dinner indoors mostly. Dishes are offered à la carte. They associate the European and oriental influences through recipes like beef tenderloin with mushrooms, Mediterranean grilled shrimp. Unfortunately the choice is not great. For prices, expect around 20 ? a dish.
The hotel advances onto the beach, which is not large in size but the setting and its quietness compensate for that. There are no large hotel structures in the surrounding areas, only private villas hiding among nice Mediterranean vegetation with a large amount of palm trees and bougainvillea. Further away, you can see the medina of Hammamet, its fortified tower and its small fishing port where coloured boats sway in the wind. The water is clear, with turquoise sea on the horizon. A beautiful panorama to watch from your lounge chair under a straw umbrella. These features are furnished with mattresses as well as bath towels. However, the hotel does not offer water sports.
