Hotel Atlantico

The Atlantico is not far from the sea, between a hotel and the road, 3 miles from Guardalavaca. It is an hour's drive from Holguin airport.

It must be said that before its renovations the hotel was in a very bad state. The Atlantico is mainly for young sporty holiday makers.

Built in 1991, the Lookéa Atlantico needed a good face lift. And this was accomplished because before opening the hotel under its name, Look renovated the site. The hotel reopened in December 2000. With its 136 rooms, all in rustic style bungalows, the Atlantico is a nice size. The rooms (of which 3 are family suites) have been redone (bathroom and electricity) and fitted with new beddings (definately needed!) Please note: the hotel is near the road. A wall should have been built to create a real area between the hotel and the road. The Atlantico also has a large main building not managed by Look Voyages. This building has to be passed through to get to the beach.

The bedrooms are large and comfortable but a little too Spartan in our opinion. The furniture is simple. They are air conditioned and fitted with telephone, a satellite TV, a balcony or terrace, a fridge and a bathroom.

A restaurant-buffet proposes a variety of dishes at each meal: salads, meat, fish, grilled meat and Cuban specialties. During our visit, the menus and the quality of the meals was deplorable.

Clear sea and fine sand, the Atlantico beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Guardalavaca. Several hotels share it but it is large enough so that you are not stepping on each other's toes. You cannot reach it directly. About a 1,640 foot walk after having gone through gardens, a parking lot and the main building hall of the Atlantico.
