AnimationLocated in the city centre, the Grand Resort Hurghada offers a variety of activities for everyone, young and elderly, within a setting that remains pleasant and elegant, despite its large size. One drawback: it has no beach.
Built in 1997 almost opposite the Grand Hotel on the main street of Hurghada, a busy and animated street, the Grand Resort is located 2.5 miles from the centre of Hurghada and 1 mile from the airport. Constituted of three buildings, each in the form of a different letter, it is built around two large courtyards but is surrounded by many building sites and anarchic constructions.
The hotel's guests are German (80%) and Italian. The property is one of the largest in the resort. It is frequented by a lot of people.
Designed by a Spanish architect and designer, the hotel has a rather pleasant appearance, which is rare for such large establishments (850 rooms). The decor is elaborate and neat, both inside and outside, original and warm, sometimes even surprising, but always hispanist. The very lush gardens offer many places to relax, often isolated and intimate. The four floors are served by thirteen lifts.
The rooms, all overlooking at least one of the pools, are tastefully decorated in warm shades of yellow and orange, with carved brown wood furniture. In some of them, the floor is paved with red-copper tiles to add to the atmosphere. They are equipped with air conditioning, a television (satellite), a phone line for overseas calls, a refrigerator, a safe and a balcony. The bathroom has a bath and a hair dryer.
The hotel has six restaurants. The main restaurant is divided into two parts: one area of 200 seats, and another of 500 seats. Here you can enjoy an international cuisine served buffet-style at breakfast and dinner. A la carte restaurants offer a great choice for lunch: international, American, Italian, Lebanese or Chinese cuisine. The numerous bars are situated between the swimming pools and the disco bars.
The hotel has no beach. Its clients go to the beach of the Grand Hotel, which is a three minute walk away. Despite its size (2,300 feet long and 650 feet wide), it is often very crowded and noisy. The sand is fine, and the beach offers deckchairs, sunshades and numerous showers. It is windy in winter, from the middle of November to late February.
