AnimationAs an edifice for mass tourism, the Mare Nostrum hotel can welcome more than 1,000 clients in conditions really close to overpopulation. Its entertainment and mini-club are especially designed for families.
656 feet from the Playa d'en Bossa, a beach frequently visited by night birds, and 1 mile from Eivissa downtown, the capital. The airport is located 4 miles away, about 15 minutes driving on the highway.
The Mare Nostrum hotel welcomes mainly German or English clientele. It is open form May to October. A bus service going to the capital is available at the exit of the hotel.
Built in 1969 and last renovated in 2001, this huge hotel of 528 rooms can welcome up to 1,004 clients. It is composed of two buildings of 4 levels each, with elevators, separated by the pool. Alas, dull architectural style has affected the Mare Nostrum hotel. Moreover, the special effort for the arrangement of the pool and its surroundings as well as for the sportive facilities of the hotel, like the multi-sport field and the raquetball cabin should be noted. However, a general feeling of suffocation is always present.
The rooms don't offer TV, air-conditioning or a mini- bar, but they are, however, quite spacious. Decorated in a modern and functional style, the rooms offer a ventilator and a balcony with a view that is more or less pleasant: of the sea, of the pool, the parking lot or overlooking the sportive facilities. If you want to use the safes in the rooms, you must pay 2 euros per day (1.5 pounds sterling), and leave another 30 euro deposit for a direct telephone line (24 pounds sterling).
The restaurant, that looks like a company cafeteria, runs only in half-board. The buffets are open from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM for breakfast and from 6 PM to 8:30 PM for dinner. The cuisine offered is international. Which means: raw vegetables and cooked meats, then a dish of meat or fish served with fries or warm vegetables. Fruits, ice-cream and pastries are offered for dessert. The beverages are paying. Snacks are also available for lunch, offering hamburgers and sandwiches.
The Mare Nostrum hotel was built 656 feet from the notorious sandy beach of d'en Bossa, visited by night birds and attracting lots of party fans. To access the beach, you must cross over a passer-by road. On a slight beach slope, the beach is a specially great place for children. You will also find here lots of sportive activities, like schools of nautical ski and windsurfing. A large choice of bars, animated restaurants and even discos open during the day is available as well.
